InfoTech NorthStar recently had the privilege of attending the Department of Energy’s Small Business Forum & Expo, held on June 4-5 at the prestigious Hyatt Regency Minneapolis. Hosted by the Department of Energy’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, this event aimed to foster connections between small businesses and various entities within the Department to advance its missions.

Represented by our President and Vice President of Operational Technology & QA, our presence at the event allowed us to delve into a wealth of opportunities and insights tailored specifically for small businesses like ours.

The forum offered a comprehensive lineup of activities designed to empower attendees:

Engaging Breakout Sessions: Led by industry leaders and experts, these sessions provided invaluable insights into the intricacies of working within the Department of Energy’s ecosystem. From regulatory compliance to emerging trends, the sessions covered a diverse range of topics crucial for small business success.

Informative General Sessions: Delivered by top officials, these sessions offered a broader perspective on the Department’s overarching goals and initiatives, shedding light on how small businesses can align their efforts with the agency’s missions.

Matchmaking Opportunities: One of the highlights of the event was the matchmaking sessions, where we had the opportunity to engage in one-on-one (and new three-on-one) discussions with prominent companies, sites, and prime contractors affiliated with the Department. These sessions proved instrumental in exploring potential partnerships and securing future collaborations.

Exhibit Hall Exploration: The expo floor provided a vibrant showcase of the latest products and services tailored to assist businesses in scaling their operations and increasing revenue. It served as a hub for networking and discovering innovative solutions to enhance our business endeavors.

Networking Galore: Throughout the event, countless networking opportunities abounded, allowing us to connect with fellow small business owners, industry experts, and potential collaborators. These interactions facilitated the exchange of ideas, experiences, and business contacts, enriching our professional network and opening doors to future opportunities.

Attending DOE’s Small Business Forum & Expo was not just about expanding our business prospects; it was about forging meaningful connections and contributing to the broader mission of advancing the Department’s goals. As we continue to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of small business ownership, events like these serve as invaluable platforms for growth, learning, and collaboration.

We extend our gratitude to the Department of Energy and all involved in organizing this exceptional event. We are eager to apply the insights gained and the connections made to propel InfoTech NorthStar towards greater success in the dynamic realm of small business innovation.
